Workshop deals with copyrights and money management
A good musician also can be a good business person and Jose Antonio Ponce will help guide that development as part of a one-day free session, “he New Mexico Musician’s Business Workshop,” Oct. 27, at the Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts.
The aim is to deliver pertinent business education to artists on all level of experience. The 1 1/2 hour workshop will cover topics such as copyrights, publishing and licensing. The event is underwritten in full at no cost to participants through the New Mexico Music Awards, the New Mexico Arts, Montrose Records. the New Mexico Music Commission, Jason’s Music Publishing and Listen!ABQ.
Ponce is a celebrated musician, author and actor, especiallyrecognized in his native state of New Mexico.
Artist education through workshop participation is a speciality of Ponce. The topics he will cover include publishing, management, money management, film and television licensing and marketing.
Ponce will be available directly after the event to answer questions.
The session will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants can bring a brown bag lunch. The Spencer is at 108 Spencer Drive in Alto, off Airport Road-NM 220, north of Ruidoso. Anyone can attend, both novice and experienced artists, but seating is limited. A place can be reserved by emailing [email protected] or call 281-740-6644.
