“The Breezers Musicfest began after a Skydogs show at the Paradise Bar and Grill during an informal multi-class reunion. Several Gulf Breeze High School (GBHS) alumni were talking about starting an annual event, and the Breezers Musicfest was born,” festival coordinator Sharon Bernard said.

Six years and a change of venue later, this year will see the biggest Breezers Musicfest yet. The three-day food and music event takes place Friday through Saturday at the Sandshaker.

“This event attracts folks from all over the country and even though it was started by Breezers, it is not limited to only GBHS graduates,” she added. “Brent Sibley, lead guitarist and singer for the Skydogs, is also from the first graduating class of GBHS, in 1971. He was instrumental in getting the Musicfest started, working with Scott Dixon, a GBHS 1976 graduate.”

“We moved the event from the Paradise to the Sandshaker last year, enabling the later schedule for bands to play. This year, we have a special guest. Duane Betts, son of the legendary Dickey Betts, guitarist for the Allman Brothers. Duane will accompany the Skydogs on stage for the Saturday night show,” Bernard said.

The event is free to attend each day. Bring an appetite and cash to enjoy food vendors 3-D Eats and LoneStar Kitchens2Go. Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs to sit out on the deck.
