BBR Music Group’s long partnership with RED Distribution has ended following a decision by BBR parent BMG to switch to ADA Worldwide, the indie distribution and services arm of Warner Music Group. The deal follows a partnership between ADA and BMG in 2016, and this year’s acquisition of BBR by BMG, a German-based rights management firm.
RED Distribution, a division of Sony, had been distributing BBR releases since 2002 and had a deal that extended to 2017.
Nashville-based BBR is home to four labels, flagship imprint Broken Bow Records, along with Stoney Creek Records and the more recent Wheelhouse Records. A fourth label, RED BOW Records, so named for its pairing with RED Distribution, is not mentioned in details regarding the BBR/ADA deal. Requests for comment on the label’s status were not immediately returned.
The label group boasts a number of major country recording artists, including Jason Aldean (Broken Bow), Dustin Lynch (Broken Bow), Randy Houser (Stoney Creek), Joe Nichols (Red Bow), Chase Rice (Broken Bow), Granger Smith (Wheelhouse), Craig Campbell (Red Bow), Lindsay Ell (Stoney Creek) and Trace Adkins (Wheelhouse), among others.
ADA’s inaugural release under its partnership with BBR is already out: Dustin Lynch’s third LP, Current Mood, debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. Upcoming releases being distributed by ADA include new music from Granger Smith and Chase Rice.
One of the label’s most recent signings, rock/rap/country hybrid Kid Rock, announced this week that he’ll release his next album, Southern Sugar, on Nov. 3.
Eliah Seton, president of ADA, said the company is “doubling down” on the company’s efforts in Nashville and will be adding staff and resources. “Broken Bow is a powerhouse, and we are looking forward to working closely with Jon Loba and the whole BBR Music Group team to make sure country music fans have access to their special brand of music not just locally, but nationally and internationally as well,” he said. “We are doubling down on ADA’s efforts in Nashville, with new staff and resources, and look forward to contributing to the rapid growth in the city.”
Added BBR Music Group executive vp Jon Loba, “Becoming part of BMG has allowed us to scale up our ambition both in the US and internationally. We are excited to now be able to enjoy the benefits of BMG’s partnership with ADA.”
