21 Mason City students to perform at All-State Music Festival | Mason City & North Iowa

MASON CITY | Twenty-one students from Mason City High School were selected to perform at the 2017 All-State Music Festival. 

The event is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, in Hilton Coliseum, Iowa State University, Ames.

MCHS Chorus qualifiers: Kylie Hansen, Elise Obermire, Amelia Ouverson, soprano; Natalia Cadena, Katheelyn Montes, Natasha Orton, alto; Marcus Buttweiler, Noah Hoffman, Derek Johnson, Noah Murray, Aden Stroup, tenor; Nathan Elsbernd, Skyler Lee, Jake Palmer, bass.

Alternate: Kinzie Johanns, alto.

Recalled: Bailey Erickson, soprano; Ava Ciavarelli, alto; Eddie Lara and Mac Kahler, tenor; Tony Cadena and Logan Young, bass.

MCHS Band qualifiers: Emma Garrett and Leah Morrison, clarinet; Ben Swegle, French horn; Henry Klatt, bass trombone; Tim Read, tuba; Christian Gossweiler, percussion.

Alternates: Britta Elsbernd, oboe; Brian VandenBerg, euphonium; Erika Sloan, tuba.

Recalled: Anna Woythal, flute; Jacob Mehmen and Kaitlyn Walthall, trumpet.

MCHS Orchestra qualifiers: Kaitlyn Broske, violin. Alternate: Chloe Ihlenfeldt, viola.

District auditions for the 281-piece band, 201-piece orchestra and 601-member chorus were Oct. 21 at Storm Lake, Hampton, Independence, Atlantic, Indianola and Washington. 

Participants will audition for chair placement Thursday, Nov. 16, in Ames. The groups will rehearse Nov. 17-18. 

Concert tickets are $22, plus fees, and are available through Ticketmaster.
